Something is Building (up)

Something is Building (up) is a process-oriented and collaborative project by the artist collective PIKT. The project began in February 2025 in an abandoned apartment in Linz. Now it continues its journey to Athens – fragmentary and open. Each work carries roots, cores, traces of memory. In Athens, something new will emerge: a fragile, living constellation that opens itself to the place without forgetting its origin. Within the tensions of The Division of Life – between separation and connection, fragment and continuity, past and present – we search for ways of building together. Our practice is dialogical, tentative, open. It responds to architecture, to history, to light and to in-between spaces. It moves between individual voices and collective experience.

Visitors are invited to become part of this process – in resonance, in encounter, in conscious pause. For Back to Athens 12, the presentation is expanded by artists from Greece. They are involved in the process from the very beginning. Through their contributions, they enter into dialogue with the space, with existing works, and with what is emerging on site. Each position remains distinct – and yet they intertwine. The collective practice thrives on exchange, on flow, on attentive listening. A fabric emerges – open and in motion – in which every voice retains its autonomy. Something is Building (up) does not perceive separation only as rupture, but also as an opportunity for transformation. What is being built may change. And still, it remains rooted.
